2009 Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg HuntThe annual Glenwood Easter Egg Hunt is near. This year we celebrate the 51st event. Young or old - join the fun and take part in the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 11th April in Victor Jones Park. This year, the Easter Egg Hunt will be kicked off by none other than San Rafael Mayor, Al Boro, who'll be visiting us on this special day with his wife. Kick-off is at 10am, but please arrive no later than 9.45am to ensure a good place in the line and obviously a chance to pick your fair share of eggs!!!

Everyone should bring their own basket. The Conceptual Plan for the Victor Jones Park renovation project will be on display and there'll be a chance to discuss the current plan.

If you would like to help with the final organization of this event, please let us hear from you.

Thanks in advance to Glenwood Elementary School for letting us use their sound system.

To get in the mood, check out the pictures from our 50th Anniversary Hunt last year!!

2009 GHA Membership Dues

GHA MembershipThank you for supporting the Glenwood Homeowners' Association. Our association benefits the Glenwood, Peacock Crest and Seaview subdivisions.

All the dues collected in the past have been either put into our savings account for future projects or spent on projects that enhance and benefit our community such as the entrance sign maintenance and lighting, median beautification, community outreach, the new Wildland Urban Interface Ordinance and annual activities to benefit our neighborhood. Some of the activities that are enjoyed by all of us are the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the neighborhood picnic at the Victor Jones Park. Also watch for more information regarding the Victor Jones Park renovation. The future may hold a new park for all to enjoy.

We are requesting that each household contribute $25.00 to our Association. Look out for a letter in the mail very soon.

PayPalWe are also planning to be providing an online payment facility for GHA Membership Dues via either PayPal or Creditcard. Look out for a separate announcement or check our online payment facility on the Glenwood website going live very soon.

Vegetation Management coming to Glenwood in August

Vegetation Management ProgramA message from San Rafael Fire Department

Current State Government Code, as well as local City Ordinance, requires homeowners within the Fire Severity Zones to create Defensible Space around structures. Starting in August, Glenwood is scheduled for the San Rafael Fire Department to begin their Vegetation Management Program, a concentrated effort to remove vegetation that poses serious threat to our neighborhood. The Vegetation Program Ordinance in effect August 2007 required homeowners to create Defensible space as outlined in the Ordinance which also includes the removal of Juniper and Bamboo within 15-feet of structures now, and by January 1, 2011 within 100-feet of structures.

Glenwood Home Tour

As part of the Rockin' the 80's Auction (see separate article), Glenwood homeowners have opened their homes for viewings.

The First Annual Glenwood Home Tour will be held on May 3rd from 11:00-4:00. It will feature 8-10 homes that have been recently remodeled with new kitchens, bathrooms or additions. They are all lovely reinterpretations of the Glenwood homes! The tour will be self-guided and will conclude with a gathering at the Schoenlnk / Perry house for beverages and cheese.

Children can come on the tour free of charge but not invited to the wine and cheese event.

There will be various professionals on-hand to discuss the process, time and money aspects of a remodel.

Tickets are $25 for one or two for $40 and must be shown to access the homes. They can be purchased in advance by contacting Ingrid Schoelank at 453-4506 or Mary Kyle at 454-8220. Tickets may also be purchased on the night of the Rockin' the 80's Auction on April 25th.
